Striking That Balance: Mompreneur Careers To Consider
Striking that balance is hard when your a mom isn’t it? You have so much to think about and things to do that work and life can really merge into one grey area that can have you wading through the fog wondering where one thing ends and another begins. Sound familiar?
Some moms have it right. They love their careers which equally then makes them happy in their home life. But there are some moms out there that struggle, are unhappy with their work choices and then ultimately this can have a knock on effect on the rest of their lives. It isn’t easy.
However, changing your career, trying something new and working from home can help you to get the balance right.
I wanted to share with you some of the career options you could consider to help you strike the right balance.
Start a blog
One of the things many moms are trying is blogging. They use what they have and their current life situation of being a parent and they share their real life experiences helping other moms in similar situations.
Many have gone on to make real success of this and making a lot of money from their blog. Something they can do from home on their own schedule.
Freelancing
If you are particularly skilled in things like writing, social media management, marketing or even things like administration, then you may want to consider going freelance.
There are plenty of websites online where jobs and contracts are posted and you can pick and choose your workload. Maybe you like the idea of trading and investments, and working for yourself and platforms like CMC Markets could make it happen.
However, even simple tasks such as creating blog articles or website copy to more advanced jobs such as website creation and social media management, means that working for yourself is a real viable option.
Create your own online shop
Maybe you have a passion for a particular type of product, be that skincare, makeup or even clothing. Then why not open up your own online store. Websites can be created fairly easily these days and website themes often have an ecommerce option built in. You can run your own little boutique shop from home, giving your the flexibility of striking that balance just right.
Take on some online side hustles
If you are still unsure about what to do and want more flexibility with many different avenues of income then explore some of the online side hustles that are available online.
You could perform mystery shops, fill out online surveys, and test websites. There are so many different avenues that you could try that you may find that doing them each day is a day job in itself while diversifying your income all the more.
Sell items online
Finally, you could take on some inspiration form your own home and declutter and sell things online.
Websites like eBay are great for this. However, you could specifically source to sell online to make quick profits and by turning your ebay account into a business, it could be very lucrative.
I hope that this has given you some motivation to consider some of the career options you have from home.

Hi Lauren,
I have to take my hat off to all mums, especially mums who are trying to balance bringing up kids with business. Its got to be hard and many blokes don’t appreciate this!
Being a mum opens up so many niches that were probably not even thought about before.
Some good advice here!
Hi Mick, Thanks so much for your encouraging comment.
Very true, Moms wear so many hats and develop so many skills that we could pretty much create a niche website on any topic. It’s wide open.
Great point. Thank You.
