If you’re going to find business success, then you have to engage in promotion. There’s just no other way around it! The greater the number of people who know about your company, the more likely it’ll be that you’ll have customers.
However, sometimes, there’s a problem. Customers can become desensitized to advertisements and marketing, and in some cases, they can even become hostile. That’s why it’s really important that you’re promoting your brand without annoying the public. We’ll take a look at a few key ways how you can do this below.
Be Real
People don’t necessarily dislike marketing. They dislike dishonesty. There’s a simple way to avoid falling into this trap, and that is to be real.
If you’re genuine in the words and images you use as part of your marketing materials, then that’ll come across positively.
If, on the other hand, you try to contort your business into an area that it’s not suitable for (let’s say, an oil company trying to boast of its green credentials), then people will see through it. It’s all about treating the public with respect.
Target People Correctly
In this day and age, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be thinking about targeted marketing when it comes to promoting your brand, at least in the online world.
There are many advantages to this, including helping you to put your marketing dollars to best use, but the other advantage is that your ads will be seen by people who are more likely to have an interest in what you provide.
People may have a general dislike of advertisements because they interrupt their content or enjoyment of the internet, but if the ad is relevant to their needs and interests, then they’ll be much happier to see it.
Give People What They Want
All too often with advertising, companies tend to adopt a “take, take, take” approach. They’re asking for the public’s interest, but they’re not giving that much in return.
So why not look at making things a little more balanced? One such way to do this is to give away freebies. How you do this will depend on where and how you’re marketing your brand.
If it’s in the real world, then a custom label water bottle featuring your logo would be a good idea.
Alternatively, you could use a t-shirt printing company to print your logo to hand out at company events or trade events you plan on attending.
If it’s online, then how about a free white paper or another piece of content, such as a podcast or blog?
This tactic isn’t just a less annoying way to get your brand in front of people’s eyes; it’s an excellent way to establish your expertise and make your company stand out from the crowd.
Keep Things Lighthearted
Finally, be sure to keep things lighthearted. People don’t like to see adverts that prey on their fears and anxieties, or ones that seem to use dark patterns, or which bash other companies. You can market your business while also keeping a friendly and open tone of voice. This will also create a positive image of your business too.
