Dream catchers are a fun to way for us working moms to teach our children about a different culture while at the same time working together on a fun craft project.

This craft is fairly simple to make and learning about the meaning and history of dreamcatchers will capture your child’s imagination. You can use a variety of household materials or odds and ends to make a dream catcher, so be creative and think outside the box.

In fact, hunting down the materials around the house to build your own dream catcher can even be part of the fun. Get your kids involved.

First, you need to find or make a plastic, wooden or metal hoop.

Next, weave a web over the hoop. You can use some old string, yarn or thread. Feel free to make it as simple or intricate as you like.

Once you have the net of the dreamcatcher complete, the rest is easy.

Use some feathers or beads to decorate and hang from the hoop.

Now all you need to do is just hang your dreamcatcher near your child’s bed. You and your child will enjoy looking at the dreamcatcher every night at bedtime.

Oven-bake clay is available from lots of different retailers at a low price.

Even if your child is not a master potter, this is a fun project that any kid will enjoy. Whether they make a simple bowl, plate or creature, odds are together you will cherish the pottery and the memories for years to come.

Make Your Own Picnic Blanket

One things almost all working moms want is for their families to get outside and enjoy the outdoors more. The next time you go for an outing with your children, sit and relax on your very own picnic blanket.

Designing your own picnic blanket (or tablecloth) is an easy, fun activity to do with your kids that just requires a few easy to find materials.

You can buy a canvas drop cloth of whatever size you want at most local hardware stores.

Before you start the activity, wash and iron the cloth.

To decorate the blanket, you can find fabric paints at craft stores or you can even use acrylics if you already have them.

Let your children tap into their creativity, painting and decorating the blanket however they choose.

When they’re all done, just allow to dry and you’re ready to go.
