Accountants can explore a wide range of career opportunities, with more opening up as they become more qualified. Some accountant’s might only has an associate’s degree, while others can have further qualifications that help them to grow their careers.
If you’re looking for a way to advance your career more, there are several routes that you might consider taking.
Seek a Promotion
Firstly, if you want to stay with your current employer but take on a new challenge, you might consider aiming for a promotion. Perhaps there is already one available, or you can let your manager know that you’re interested in one. Developing your skills and taking on new responsibilities will help you show that you’re ready.
Become a CPA
Becoming a certified public accountant can give you the opportunity to work in public accounting but also to work with large corporations. A CPA is a certification that is widely recognized and you can find that there are many job opportunities for which a CPA is required. To become a CPA, you need to pass an exam and get licensed for your chosen state.
Get a Master’s Degree
If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you might consider what a master’s degree in accounting could do for your career. Some employers want to see a master’s degree for people applying for senior management positions, which could be in accounting or perhaps in business administration.
