For a Mom who has left her job to stay home and raise her children – no matter how much she adores and loves being with her children – there are moments when life just starts to feel like an endless clatter of cooking and cleaning. Wash, rinse, repeat. Literally.
At some point, a few months or years into being a Mom, boredom starts setting in. (Unless, of course, you are the type that adores cleaning up other people’s mess all day, all night and on weekends and holidays, ad nauseum).
And so Mom starts considering her options. Should she go back to work, or find a viable work from home option? Go back to a day job or become a Mompreneur?
Here are a few reasons why Network Marketing is such a huge draw card for so many Moms…
- Moms are looking for flexible hours
Not to state the obvious or anything, but unfortunately most office jobs are 8 to 5. This in itself is simply horrible for most Moms. Throw in traffic or a long commute to and from the office, and you’re away from your precious little bundles of joy more than you’re home with them.
As a friend put it the other day, mornings and evenings are the most challenging times with her toddler (2 years) and baby (2 months), and when she goes back to work after her maternity leave, that’s all the time she will have with them!
Also, those pesky bosses expect you to be there on time, and consistently. They are generally not all too understanding if your toddler had a melt down before pre-school, or is down with a cold again, or you have to pump 3 times a day, (despite laws protecting you). They don’t share your enthusiasm about school concerts, Prize givings and Sports days either.
Office jobs can be restrictive, whereas Network Marketing is expansive
Bottom line, most companies expect you to work on their schedule, not yours or your children’s.
In contrast, Network Marketing offers you the chance to do business as creatively as you like. Online, over the phone, or in person. During nap time, or school time, or evenings when your hubby is home and can take care of them.
- Moms are natural motivators and like to help other women succeed
In a corporate environment you usually find people competing against each other for a few sought after top positions. This cultivates a culture of:
In Network marketing however, the only way to move up into a position of leadership, is to show others the ropes. The more creatively you approach teaching and motivating your flock, the more women you will attract to your network and the higher up the ranks you will climb. Network marketing therefore fosters an environment of:
Now doesn’t that sit better in a Mommy’s heart?
- The BUZZ, and excitement of being around other (successful) women is exhilarating!
Moms, accustomed to spending the entire day with their children, just love a bit of time with other Moms, don’t they? And what a breath of fresh air to be around Moms who are inspired and inspiring, Moms who are having fun while making money.
Joining a network marketing company often fulfills our need for a greater family, a place where we can feel at home, loved, admired and respected.
Direct Selling companies are renowned for treating their leaders like Superstars. The red carpet is rolled out and top distributors get to share their success stories to hundreds, if not thousands of new distributors who look up to them. Attend one of these meetings and there’s a good chance your dreams of fame and fortune will be ignited.
And there’s no doubt about it, fortunes are being made. I’ve heard that Network Marketing has created more Millionaires than any other industry.
And everyone, and I mean EVERYONE wants to see YOU succeed.
- Moms are always looking for a good deal
A Stay at Home Mom may find herself on rather a tight budget, with little or no money of her own. Not surprising, if what used to be a double income household, is now single income with extra hungry mouths to feed and bodies to clothe, teach and entertain.
Which might explain why about 70% of people who join a network marketing company simply want to get their favourite products at a discounted price – and have no desire to sell or recruit others to sell products.
For those who do choose to build a business and become Mompreneurs, start up costs are generally low. Some companies provide a starter kit for an initial joining fee, but in most cases the only expense is the monthly purchase of products. These can be either used in the home (change your point of purchase – you now buy from yourself instead of someone else) or sold on to friends, for profit.
Moms can start generating income the moment they make their first sale.
- Moms bring varying levels of experience and expertise to the party
There are absolutely no barriers to entry in network marketing. You’ll find among the hundreds of networking millionaires every imaginable creed, culture, faith, age group, level of education or work experience.
Most companies offer a training programme akin to an apprenticeship (see point 7 below).
All it takes to succeed is a burning desire to get ahead through helping others get ahead, a willingness to be coachable, and that you stay the course.
- Moms enjoy personal transformation
Most network marketing companies offer heaps of on-the-job business training as well as workshops or seminars offering encouragement, advice and training on: wealth creation, goal-setting, relationships, marriage, sales, leadership, overcoming challenges, body language, personality types, and more.
Invest a year or two in network marketing and you will undergo a personal transformation that will be worth far more to you than the extra money you’ll be earning.
Jim Rohn said it best: The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become.
- Moms like to lead lives of meaning and contribution
So we’ve fulfilled our need to belong to a greater social network, yet we also yearn to give back, to contribute in a meaningful way to the greater good of all.
Network Marketing provides two outlets for this deep desire to live a meaningful life.
- Through Teaching, coaching, helping and inspiring each other to greater heights.
- Through contributing to the social upliftment project or charity that is part and parcel of virtually every network marketing company worth its salt.
Network Marketing simply ticks all the right boxes for women. It’s a feel good industry, for the greater good, and has the potential to make you a very fulfilled and wealthy woman.
