How to Boost eCommerce Sales
Starting your own e-commerce business is one of the greatest careers for a Mom Entrepreneur. You get to flex your creativity and your business skills while working from the comfort of your home.
But while it’s relatively easy to get your e-commerce website up and running, it can be a challenge to keep those sales rolling in.
1. Promotions
It might be obvious, but running regular, strategic promotions on your site can really boost your sales. You can run promotions at semi-regular intervals or tie them into significant cultural events, like public holidays, or anniversaries for your shop.
Once you’ve got these promotions planned, you’ll have to get the message out. Paid social advertising is an excellent method, as is your email list.
2. Build Your Email List
Turn one-off buyers into loyal customers by staying at the forefront of their mind. The best way to do this? Building up your email list. You’ve got a brilliant e-commerce website, so use it to your advantage.
Make sure you have a clear sign-up box to join your email list. It helps to give customers a compelling reason to join, such as a 10% off voucher or entry into a competition.
Once they’re on the list, provide regular and relevant updates. Special offers, competitions, or new products are all excellent reasons to send out a quick email and subtly direct people back to your site.
3. Get Active on Social Media
Your business should have a strong presence on Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook – wherever your customers are most active online. In addition to posting useful, engaging, and visual content regularly, be sure to interact with your audience. Respond to comments and elicit community engagement with polls and giveaways. You can also use social media to provide a behind the scenes look into your company, boosting brand awareness.
Don’t miss out on paid advertising on social media, either. Facebook ads can be particularly useful in encouraging repeat purchases. You can set up custom audiences for your ads based on what action the user has already taken on your site, for example, prompting them to complete a purchase.
4. Establish a Reputation for Service
Clients expect a seamless service, all the way up to delivery. In today’s world of online reviews, this can make or break your business. One excellent way to deliver this is by using a B2B order management service to track orders made by clients.
You can also consider offering free shipping on your site since this is appealing to most customers and could clinch the deal. Developing a reputation for service will help your business stand out from the crowd.
5. Understand Your Customers
Do you know who your customers are? Getting on clear on this can focus everything from your product design to your marketing strategies, so it’s absolutely vital.
Creating buyer personas is one way to approach this. Try to pin down what the major pain points are for your customers, what demographics they might belong to, where they are most likely to be found online.
You can also do market research and surveys to see what could make your products or website more appealing to your target customers.
