Four Things A Mompreneur Needs To Do

Becoming a Mompreneur is one of the most inspiring things you can do. It’s amazing how moms can balance the life of running a business, and running a household all in one.

It’s the freedom of being your own boss, and the freedom of earning as much money as you possibly can that takes a lot of Moms down the path of becoming a Mompreneur.

However, when you’re trying to manage a household at the same time, the last thing you want is for your new venture to crash and burn before it has barely even took off the ground. The financial implications of this will just be huge.

So, here are four things all Mompreneurs need to do to make sure they’re successful in the business world.

A Good Business Idea

This is the first thing you need to be thinking about. You might have an idea in your head for a business idea, but how good actually is it? There are literally so many factors to think about that you might not have even considered before.

Firstly, there’s the thought of how niche the business is. If you’re going to start a home beauty business, you need to consider that there are going to be plenty of other beauty businesses in your area, well there most likely are.  If not, then it would be the perfect idea.

You want to try and stay as niche as possible so that it isn’t hard to break through into the market you want to. The more unique your idea, the easier it’s going to be to get noticed quicker.

A good business idea also has to be thought through completely. Don’t just think about the things that will take you to success, think about the things that could bring your business down in a heartbeat.

These are the things you need to be worried about, and you should always have a contingency plan in place to protect yourself if things do go wrong. More small business fall to the ground than they do rise to success, don’t let your new venture be one of them.

A Good Website

A good website is key to being a successful mompreneur. You want to have that business status that puts you a cut above all of the rest doing what you’re trying to do.

Using companies such as PRWD can help you create a user-centred website design, as well as help you to manage your click conversions.  Click conversion are statistics that show where your customers have been clicking on your website, and how many of those clicks actually turn into solid sales.

You can then use this information to try and push marketing and product sales in the areas that might be lacking. A good website in general, however, is exactly what your business needs.

There are plenty of web developers out there that have the knowledge you need to put your business a cut above the others. Couple a good website with marketing efforts and you’re on the right path to success.

Commitment

We understand that trying to manage a business and Mom life is going to be damn hard. You’ve got the demands of a business pulling you from one side, and the demands from your children and family pulling you from the other. It’s important to maintain a high level of commitment to both sides of your life.

The last thing you want to do is shut your family out, they should be your main support mechanism when times get a little hard. But at the same time, you definitely don’t want to neglect your business at any point. Think of your business as a little baby. Whilst it’s growing, it’s going to need your constant attention if you want it to grow successfully.

Time management and commitment are key here. Set yourself a daily schedule and stick to it. Planning each day individually will make like so much easier for you.

Good Marketing

Mompreneurs seem to fail in this department, as do many other small businesses. Marketing is one of the key ways you’re going to get exposure.

Just because you’re a small company, don’t just rely on the power of word of mouth. The power of using digital marketing methods such as social media is just so much higher.  Set up business pages on the main sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and user guides on the internet to make sure you’re marketing yourself right through the use of social media.

If you follow those four things, you should definitely be on the road to success as a mompreneur.

Whatever you choose to do as an Entrepreneur, I’ll encourage you to choose something you’re passionate or excited about, something that will hold your interest for a good few years. Think of who your customers or clients will be.  Will you be selling your goods or services to people you’d love as friends?   Because that’s what will make your marketing truly soar. Social media marketing, especially, requires engagement with your audience.

Wishing you all the very best as you set out on your new path.  If there’s any way I can help you, please shout.
