7 Rocking Reasons Moms choose Network Marketing Careers

Share this:

For a Mom who has left her job to stay home and raise her children – no matter how much she adores and loves being with her children – there are moments when life just starts to feel like an endless clatter of cooking and cleaning. Wash, rinse, repeat. Literally.

At some point, a few months or years into being a Mom, boredom starts setting in. (Unless, of course, you are the type that adores cleaning up other people’s mess all day, all night and on weekends and holidays, ad nauseum).

And so Mom starts considering her options. Should she go back to work, or find a viable work from home option? Go back to a day job or become a Mompreneur?

Here are a few reasons why Network Marketing is such a huge draw card for so many Moms…

  1. Moms are looking for flexible hours

Not to state the obvious or anything, but unfortunately most office jobs are 8 to 5. This in itself is simply horrible for most Moms. Throw in traffic or a long commute to and from the office, and you’re away from your precious little bundles of joy more than you’re home with them.

As a friend put it the other day, mornings and evenings are the most challenging times with her toddler (2 years) and baby (2 months), and when she goes back to work after her maternity leave, that’s all the time she will have with them!

Also, those pesky bosses expect you to be there on time, and consistently. They are generally not all too understanding if your toddler had a melt down before pre-school, or is down with a cold again, or you have to pump 3 times a day, (despite laws protecting you). They don’t share your enthusiasm about school concerts, Prize givings and Sports days either.

Office jobs can be restrictive, whereas Network Marketing is expansive

Bottom line, most companies expect you to work on their schedule, not yours or your children’s.

In contrast, Network Marketing offers you the chance to do business as creatively as you like. Online, over the phone, or in person. During nap time, or school time, or evenings when your hubby is home and can take care of them.

  1. Moms are natural motivators and like to help other women succeed

In a corporate environment you usually find people competing against each other for a few sought after top positions. This cultivates a culture of:

  • Fear
  • Criticism
  • Envy
  • Backbiting

In Network marketing however, the only way to move up into a position of leadership, is to show others the ropes. The more creatively you approach teaching and motivating your flock, the more women you will attract to your network and the higher up the ranks you will climb. Network marketing therefore fosters an environment of:

  • Love
  • Encouragement
  • Affirmation
  • Coaching

Now doesn’t that sit better in a Mommy’s heart?

  1. The BUZZ, and excitement of being around other (successful) women is exhilarating!

Moms, accustomed to spending the entire day with their children, just love a bit of time with other Moms, don’t they? And what a breath of fresh air to be around Moms who are inspired and inspiring, Moms who are having fun while making money.

Joining a network marketing company often fulfills our need for a greater family, a place where we can feel at home, loved, admired and respected.

Direct Selling companies are renowned for treating their leaders like Superstars. The red carpet is rolled out and top distributors get to share their success stories to hundreds, if not thousands of new distributors who look up to them. Attend one of these meetings and there’s a good chance your dreams of fame and fortune will be ignited.

And there’s no doubt about it, fortunes are being made. I’ve heard that Network Marketing has created more Millionaires than any other industry.

And everyone, and I mean EVERYONE wants to see YOU succeed.

  1. Moms are always looking for a good deal

A Stay at Home Mom may find herself on rather a tight budget, with little or no money of her own. Not surprising, if what used to be a double income household, is now single income with extra hungry mouths to feed and bodies to clothe, teach and entertain.

Which might explain why about 70% of people who join a network marketing company simply want to get their favourite products at a discounted price – and have no desire to sell or recruit others to sell products.

For those who do choose to build a business and become Mompreneurs, start up costs are generally low. Some companies provide a starter kit for an initial joining fee, but in most cases the only expense is the monthly purchase of products. These can be either used in the home (change your point of purchase – you now buy from yourself instead of someone else) or sold on to friends, for profit.

Moms can start generating income the moment they make their first sale.

  1. Moms bring varying levels of experience and expertise to the party

There are absolutely no barriers to entry in network marketing. You’ll find among the hundreds of networking millionaires every imaginable creed, culture, faith, age group, level of education or work experience.

Most companies offer a training programme akin to an apprenticeship (see point 7 below).

All it takes to succeed is a burning desire to get ahead through helping others get ahead, a willingness to be coachable, and that you stay the course.

  1. Moms enjoy personal transformation

Most netentrepreneur-1001611_640work marketing companies offer heaps of on-the-job business training as well as workshops or seminars offering encouragement, advice and training on: wealth creation, goal-setting, relationships, marriage, sales, leadership, overcoming challenges, body language, personality types, and more.

Invest a year or two in network marketing and you will undergo a personal transformation that will be worth far more to you than the extra money you’ll be earning.

Jim Rohn said it best: The major value in life is not what you get. The major value in life is what you become.

  1. Moms like to lead lives of meaning and contribution

So we’ve fulfilled our need to belong to a greater social network, yet we also yearn to give back, to contribute in a meaningful way to the greater good of all.

Network Marketing provides two outlets for this deep desire to live a meaningful life.

  1. Through Teaching, coaching, helping and inspiring each other to greater heights.
  2. Through contributing to the social upliftment project or charity that is part and parcel of virtually every network marketing company worth its salt.

Network Marketing simply ticks all the right boxes for women. It’s a feel good industry, for the greater good, and has the potential to make you a very fulfilled and wealthy woman.

So, of course, I’m not a mom myself. But I welcomed your insight on the ways entrepreneurship is specifically beneficial to mompreneurs. Because sometimes we males also like to help others succeed! :^)

You brought up a number of great points but one I feel you left out is multitasking. As a woman, you probably take it as a given.

But for a guy, the ability of most women, and especially moms, to keep several things going simultaneously is like a superpower.

Definitely a trait valuable for any entrepreneur.

The content on this website is very good, if I was a mom I would definitely look into becoming a Mompreneur.

What I really like is you know who your target audience is. Most people don’t know who they are talking to, but you know that stay at home mom’s need an income too.

The whole concept is thoughtful and I know there are a lot of moms out there that would rather work at home than spend 10 hours away from home 5 days a week working and commuting.

    HI Lauren,
What a powerful opening few paragraphs you created to begin this fantastic article. I’m sure that 99% of young moms reading and thinking about your thoughts would probably start to question just how long they can keep up doing the many mundane things put in daily as they stay at home taking care of kids and all that this would include.

I love how you also compared and contrasted being a mom and working in a corporate office versus building up a networking market with other women who share the same beliefs that they could succeed in this venture.
That should allow for a lot of thinking to any mom reading the article. The option, although admittedly being the young entrepreneur and might not earn income immediately in her marketing career, would be that going to work in an office daily, (and for a sometimes unsympathetic boss) is not exactly the most pleasant choice to make between the two.

Many of the other ideals about moms, (and women in particular) are so true: being around other women, the fact that they often would inspire each other, they bring with them past experiences, and they like to contribute to the betterment of society.

This was a fantastic and well-written article, Lauren. It should prove to be incredibly inspiring for the young mom reading it who might be looking for something better in her life – besides being the 2016 version of Lucille Ricardo of the classic 1950’s “I Love Lucy” show. In the show, Lucy was the ultimate stay-at-home mom expected by her husband to do nothing else but do the housework, cook, wash clothes and also take care of their young son. Her every attempts to do something more with her life were always stifled by her selfish husband, Ricky!

Thanks for all your comments Jeff. I’ve never heard of the “I Love Lucy show”. Sounds like it would be hilarious!

Thank goodness we no longer live in the 1950’s and have husbands who are supportive of our businesss ventures, helpful around the house and involved with raising the children. 🙂

My husband is an absolute gem. After a long day at the office he still shops, cooks and plays most days.

    Hello,

Very interesting and well-written article! You’ve made some good points here. Network marketing really seems to be a great option for moms. And not only for moms but for everyone I would say! It’s important to spend as much time with your family as you can. Our family is the most important thing in life.

    Keep up the good work!

I totally agree with you when you say that mom entrepreneurs like to motivate each other. That is so true! We really do. We understand each other as well. For me, there’s nothing better than working from home. It has brought so much happiness to my life and to my children’s lives too. I wouldn’t change my life with anyone else’s at the moment. Great website! Thank you for your devotion to mompreneurs!

Very motivating article about mom and choosing network marketing. I think the biggest reason for me was to be able to stay home with my kids and raise them instead of having day care raise them. I like that I can be home for them. The cleaning, cooking and all of that really was not a factor…depends on who you are with I guess 🙂
